Naxal Killed in Encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur District

A naxal was killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am in a forest near Punnur village, around six kms from Awapalli police station, when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on a counter-insurgency operation, Deputy Inspector General (anti-naxal operations) Sundarraj P told PTI.

Five of Family From Bengaluru Charred to Death in Car Crash in Andhra

Five people of a family including two children were charred to death and another critically injured when their car caught fire after ramming into a roadside safety barrier in Chittoor district on Saturday, police said.

The mishap occurred when the family members were on their way to Bengaluru from Tirupati this morning. The speeding car was suspected to have run-off the road and hit the steel barrier erected along the highway in Mamadugu village, they said.

The victims were charred beyond recognition, they added.

Two Killed in UP as House Collapses Due to Heavy Rain
