The Indian cricket team has been enjoying the past couple of months on the field after their World Cup 2019 campaign ended in disappointment with a defeat in the semi-finals. Since then, India beat West Indies away from home 7-0 across formats before beginning their home stretch on a high with a win vs South Africa in the Mohali T20I on Wednesday. It seems the joys on the field, have given way to delight off it as well.
Flamboyant Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a quickfire 40 in India’s win on Wednesday, uploaded a charming video on Instagram showcasing the ‘loving and caring fathers’ within Team India.
In the video, the Indian team can be seen settling in on a flight while Dhawan – a father himself – tries to get reactions from 2 others – Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja.
Dhawan asks Sharma, who is arranging toys which he bought as a gift for his daughter Samaira, what he bought. Sharma replies by saying that they are just toys and he will give it to Samaira once he meets his family in Bengaluru – where the last T20I vs South Africa will be held on Sunday. Sharma added that his daughter ‘just loves toys’.
Rohit also points out that Ravindra Jadeja, who is sitting right behind is also a father and then the two openers proceed to ask the all-rounder what kind of gifts he bought. To which Jadeja says that he also bought toys, prompting the trio to burst into laughter.
Dhawan aptly captioned the video: ‘Meet the loving and caring fathers from our team @rohitsharma45 & @royalnavghan.’
While Dhawan’s wife Ayesha Mukherjee gave birth to their only son Zoravar in 2014, Sharma’s daughter Samaira was born on December 30, 2018. Jadeja and his better half Reeva Solanki, who got married in April 2016 also became proud parents of a baby girl in June 2017.
